How Much Does AI Marketing Software Cost in 2026?
AI marketing software can cost nothing.
It can also cost hundreds of dollars a month.
And sometimes the $20 tool isn't actually cheaper.
If you're running a small business, the number that matters isn't just the subscription price. It's what you're paying for all the other tools around it.
ChatGPT.
Canva.
A social scheduler.
Email software.
SEO tools.
Advertising platforms.
And, occasionally, a spreadsheet held together entirely by hope.
So what does AI marketing actually cost in 2026?
We looked at the current public pricing of some of the most relevant tools and platforms and put the numbers in one place.
All prices in this guide are shown in US dollars.
Pricing note: Software pricing changes regularly. The figures below reflect publicly listed prices we found in September 2026. Some services price by user, social profile, contacts or usage, so the headline monthly price is not always the final bill.
How much does AI marketing software cost?
There isn't one standard price.
You can spend $0 on a free AI tool.
You can spend around $20 a month on a general-purpose AI subscription.
Or you can spend several hundred dollars a month once you start combining specialist marketing platforms.
Here are some real examples:
|
Software |
Starting price |
What you're mainly paying for |
|---|---|---|
|
Purple+ |
$0/month |
AI marketing across social, ads, SEO and email |
|
ChatGPT Plus |
$20/month |
General-purpose AI |
|
Buffer Essentials |
$5/month per channel |
Social publishing and analytics |
|
Canva |
Paid plans vary |
Design, creative assets and AI features |
|
Adobe Express Premium |
$9.99/month |
Design, creative assets, AI and scheduling |
|
Jasper Pro |
$69/month |
AI marketing content and workflows |
|
Mailchimp Essentials |
from $13/month |
Email marketing |
|
Hootsuite Standard |
from $99/month |
Social management and AI |
|
Sprout Social Essentials |
$79/month |
Social publishing and analytics |
|
HubSpot Marketing Hub Professional |
$890/month |
Marketing automation and broader marketing operations |
The important thing is that these aren't direct like-for-like products.
That's the point.
A $20 AI chatbot isn't equivalent to a $79 social platform, and neither is equivalent to an all-in-one marketing platform.
The question is what you actually need your software to do.
The cheapest way to start: free AI marketing tools
If you're just experimenting with AI, you can spend nothing.
ChatGPT has a free plan, and HubSpot and several other marketing platforms also offer free tiers. Purple+ also has a free plan with no credit card required.
That's useful if you're trying to work out whether AI can actually help your business before spending anything.
But free doesn't necessarily mean complete.
A free AI chatbot might write your social media post.
It won't necessarily publish it.
It might suggest an ad.
It won't necessarily create the campaign in your advertising account.
It might give you SEO ideas.
It won't necessarily connect to your analytics and turn them into your next action.
That's where the cost conversation gets more interesting.
ChatGPT: $20 per month
ChatGPT Plus currently costs $20/month (OpenAI pricing). The subscription includes broader access to models and features such as image generation, file uploads, analysis and research tools. API usage is separate.
For a small business, $20 a month is pretty hard to argue with.
It's an extremely capable general-purpose AI tool.
But it is still a general-purpose AI tool.
If your workflow is:
ChatGPT → copy → Canva → Buffer → Mailchimp → Google Ads
then $20 isn't the cost of your marketing software.
It's the cost of one part of it.
That's an important distinction.
Buffer: from $5 per channel per month
Buffer's current Essentials plan starts at $5/month for one channel when billed annually (Buffer pricing)., with the price increasing according to the number of channels. Its Team plan starts at $10/month for one channel when billed annually. Buffer also has a free plan supporting up to three channels.
This makes Buffer relatively inexpensive if your main requirement is social media publishing.
For example, at $5 per channel:
-
1 channel = $5/month
-
4 channels = $20/month
-
6 channels = $30/month
-
10 channels = $50/month
That's before you add your other marketing software.
And this is exactly why looking only at the starting price can be misleading.
Canva: check the full cost of your creative stack
Canva is another common part of the small-business marketing stack.
Canva's current pricing page offers Free and paid plans (Canva pricing), with pricing varying by plan and market.
The important point isn't simply the Canva subscription.
It's that businesses often use Canva alongside:
-
an AI writing tool
-
a social scheduler
-
email software
-
advertising platforms
-
SEO tools
Canva can be an excellent creative tool.
But it isn't trying to be your complete marketing operating system.
And that's perfectly fine if that's what you need.
Adobe Express: $9.99 per month
Adobe Express Premium currently costs $9.99/month (Adobe Express pricing).
The plan includes premium templates and assets, generative AI features, content scheduling and other creative tools.
There's also a free version.
Again, this is good value if what you need is creative production.
But if you need your software to handle your whole marketing workflow, you'll still need other tools.
Jasper: $69 per month
Jasper is much more specifically focused on marketing.
Its current Pro plan costs $69/month per seat when billed monthly (Jasper pricing)., or $59/month per seat when billed annually.
Jasper positions the Pro plan around on-brand content creation, marketing workflows, brand voices, knowledge assets and audiences.
That's a considerably higher price than ChatGPT.
But you're paying for a marketing-focused product rather than a general-purpose AI assistant.
For a content-heavy marketing team, that distinction can make sense.
For a small business that needs social, ads, SEO and email as well, you'll still need additional software.
Mailchimp: from $13 per month
Mailchimp's current Essentials plan starts at $13/month (Mailchimp pricing)., while Standard starts at $20/month.
Its Free plan is available for up to 250 contacts, with limits on sends and features. Pricing increases based on audience size and other factors.
So imagine you've already got:
ChatGPT Plus: $20
Buffer, 4 channels: $20
Adobe Express: $9.99
Mailchimp Essentials: $13
That's $62.99/month before you add dedicated SEO software, advertising management or other specialist tools.
Hootsuite: from $99 per month
Hootsuite's current Standard plan starts at $99/month per user when billed annually (Hootsuite pricing).
Professional starts at $199/month and Advanced at $399/month. Hootsuite includes AI capabilities across its plans, alongside social publishing, inbox and analytics functionality.
That puts Hootsuite into a very different pricing bracket from Buffer.
If you're a larger social team, the additional functionality may justify it.
For a small business that simply wants to keep its social media moving, $99/month is a much bigger decision.
Sprout Social: $79 to $399+ per month
Sprout Social's current Essentials plan is $79/month per seat when billed annually (Sprout Social pricing).
Its Standard plan is $199/month per seat, Professional is $299 and Advanced is $399.
Sprout is primarily a social media management platform, so again, don't compare its price directly with a general AI chatbot.
The interesting question is what happens when you need everything else too.
HubSpot: where pricing changes dramatically
HubSpot has a free tier, but its paid Marketing Hub plans can become considerably more expensive.
HubSpot currently lists Marketing Hub Starter from $10/month per seat (HubSpot pricing) under its current introductory offer, while Marketing Hub Professional starts at $890/month with three seats included. Enterprise starts at $3,600/month.
That's an enormous range.
And it illustrates something important about marketing software:
"AI marketing software" isn't one category with one normal price.
A small business looking for an easy way to create and publish marketing shouldn't necessarily be comparing itself with an enterprise marketing operation running HubSpot Professional.
So what does a typical AI marketing stack actually cost?
Let's make this practical.
Imagine a small business wants:
-
AI writing
-
social media scheduling
-
design
-
email marketing
-
advertising
-
SEO
They could assemble that from separate tools.
For example:
|
Tool |
Example monthly cost |
|---|---|
|
ChatGPT Plus |
$20 |
|
Buffer, 4 channels |
$20 |
|
Adobe Express Premium |
$9.99 |
|
Mailchimp Essentials |
$13 |
|
Known software cost |
$62.99/month |
And that's before paying for a dedicated SEO platform, advertising management software, premium stock assets or other specialist tools.
You can absolutely build a capable marketing stack this way.
The downside is that you are the integration layer.
You're moving information between tools.
You're remembering which platform does what.
You're copying content.
You're exporting reports.
You're switching tabs.
And when something needs changing, you're doing it in multiple places.
The alternative: an AI marketing platform
This is where an all-in-one AI marketing platform starts to make more sense.
Instead of buying a separate tool for every marketing function, you use one platform to handle multiple workflows.
That's the approach Purple+ takes.
Purple+ has (Purple+ pricing):
-
a Free plan at $0/month
-
Pro at $49/month
-
Scale at $149/month
with the platform built around AI marketing across social, ads, SEO and email.
The important comparison isn't:
"$49 is cheaper than $20."
It isn't.
The comparison is:
"$49 for one marketing platform versus $20 + $20 + $9.99 + $13 + several other subscriptions."
That's a different calculation.
Is an all-in-one AI marketing platform actually cheaper?
Sometimes.
Not always.
If all you want is an AI writing assistant, paying $20 for ChatGPT makes more sense than paying for a broader marketing platform.
If all you want is to schedule six social channels, Buffer may be all you need.
If your entire business runs on CRM automation, HubSpot may be worth the much higher cost.
But if you're a small business that needs social + advertising + SEO + email + content + automation, the maths changes.
You're no longer comparing one subscription with another.
You're comparing a stack.
The cost of cheap marketing software
This is the bit that gets missed in almost every pricing comparison.
The subscription isn't the only cost.
There's also your time.
Suppose your software costs $40/month less because you've chosen several cheaper specialist tools.
But you spend an extra three hours every month:
-
moving content between platforms
-
formatting posts
-
creating reports
-
setting up campaigns
-
checking analytics
-
updating brand information
-
managing integrations
What's those three hours worth to your business?
If your time is worth $50/hour, that's $150.
Suddenly the "cheaper" software stack isn't necessarily cheaper.
It's just charging you in time instead of subscription fees.
The real question: what are you trying to automate?
This is where we think small businesses should start.
Not:
"What's the cheapest AI marketing tool?"
Instead:
"What work am I actually trying to remove?"
If the answer is:
"I just need better copy."
Try a general AI tool.
"I need to schedule social media."
Try a social platform.
"I need better graphics."
Try a creative platform.
"I need serious CRM and marketing automation."
Look at something like HubSpot.
"I need someone or something to help me actually run social, ads, SEO and email."
That's where an AI marketing platform becomes much more interesting.
AI marketing software price comparison
Here's the simplified version.
|
Platform |
Entry price |
Main strength |
Replaces your whole marketing stack? |
|---|---|---|---|
|
Purple+ |
$0 |

Much of it |
|
ChatGPT Plus |
$20 |
General AI |
No |
|
Buffer |
$5/channel |
Social publishing |
No |
|
Adobe Express |
$9.99 |
Creative + AI |
No |
|
Mailchimp |
$13 |
Email marketing |
No |
|
Jasper |
$69 |
Marketing content + AI workflows |
No |
|
Sprout Social |
$79 |

No |
|
Hootsuite |
$99 |

|
HubSpot |
$10+ |
CRM + marketing ecosystem |
Potentially, but at much higher tiers/cost |
The takeaway isn't that the cheapest platform wins.
It's that the number of separate subscriptions matters.
What should a small business budget for AI marketing software?
If you're starting from scratch, I'd think about it in three levels.
$0 per month
Good for experimenting.
Use free AI and marketing tools and learn what actually saves you time.
$20 to $60 per month
A sensible starting range if you're happy combining a couple of tools.
You could have a general AI assistant, a creative platform and basic social or email software.
$50 to $150 per month
This is where a dedicated AI marketing platform becomes worth considering.
You're paying more for the software itself, but potentially replacing several separate subscriptions and a lot of manual work.
The important thing is not to pick a budget first.
Work out what you need.
Then compare the total cost.
So, is Purple+ good value?
If you only want an AI chatbot, no.
You can get that elsewhere for less.
If you only want social scheduling, there are cheaper specialist tools.
But that's not really what Purple+ is trying to be.
Purple+ is designed around the idea that a small business shouldn't need a separate subscription and workflow for every part of marketing.
Its current plans are:
Free: $0/month
Pro: $49/month
Scale: $149/month
The free plan is therefore a useful way to see whether the workflow fits your business before paying for anything.
The bottom line
AI marketing software doesn't have to be expensive.
But your AI marketing stack can be.
That's the distinction worth remembering.
$20 for ChatGPT looks cheap.
$5 for Buffer looks cheap.
$9.99 for Adobe Express looks cheap.
$13 for Mailchimp looks cheap.
Then you add another tool.
And another.
And another.
Before long, you've built a $70, $100 or $200 monthly stack without necessarily realising it.
Sometimes that's absolutely the right approach.
Sometimes it makes more sense to consolidate.
The best AI marketing software isn't necessarily the software with the lowest monthly price.
It's the one that gives you the most useful marketing work for what you're actually paying.
And if you're a small business, your time is part of the price too.
